GroupBite is designed with a "privacy-first" philosophy. We believe your group's food decisions should stay within your group. Our app is built to work locally and minimize any data collection.

GroupBite does **not** collect any Personally Identifiable Information (PII). We do not require account registration, email addresses, or phone numbers to use the app.

Data created within the app (such as food suggestions, votes, and temporary group names) is stored locally on your device and shared only with other users on your local Wi-Fi network during an active session.

2. How Data is Shared

Sharing occurs exclusively over your local area network (LAN) when you are in an active "Group Session". Once the session is closed or the app is cleared, this temporary data is no longer actively broadcasted.

3. Local Storage

The app uses local storage (Room database) to keep track of your active session items. This data stays on your device and is not uploaded to any central server.

4. Permissions

GroupBite requests the following permissions for specific functionality:

• Nearby Devices (Wi-Fi): Required to discover and connect with friends in the same room without using the internet.
• Network Access: Required for the local communication between devices.

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
